Precision Health Ventures (PHV) is a venture growth-studio, social impact fund that will invest in early-stage healthcare, consumer engagement, AI-based analytics, and technology companies impacting the creation and sustainment of healthy communities. PHV focuses on companies founded by diverse founders and technologies designed to improve the lives of underserved populations.
The Precision Health Ventures (PHV) mission is to develop with precision a platform of companies and entrepreneurs delivering health and wellness impact through digital transformation, to improve the life and health circumstance of all populations. This includes companies working in AI and big data, focused on health, wellness, education, and any area supporting the upward mobility of the “opportunity population.” The industries/verticals include:
Consumer Health & Wellness – Direct to Consumer Health and Wellness Solutions (Virtual Care, Telehealth, Mental Health/Wellness, Diabetes Management, Chronic Care, Sleep Hygiene, FemTech, Respiratory Health (COVID), and other Disease Management Solutions)
New Therapeutics Solutions – Democratizing Care (AI-based Diagnostics, Digital Therapeutics (DTx),Smart Medical Devices, Regenerative Cell Therapies)
Transformative Digital Technology –(Data Science, AI-based Analytics (ML/NLP/CNN), Bias Analysis, Conversational AI, 5G, Ambient Data Collection, Wearables, Mobile Devices, Big Data, Signal Analytics, MarTech, EdTech)
Total Exposure Health – (The intersection of health and the environment. Technologies that positively affect the environment and directly impact the development of healthy, sustainable communities.)
What Makes Us Different
Target Population
We will seek product and service companies whose mission is to improve the health and life circumstance of traditionally “underserved populations.” We prefer to call these citizens the “opportunity population” since they represent a substantial buying segment, and their inclusion is essential to the country’s future for health, economic, and national security reasons. Companies that better engage the opportunity population by delivering products and services in a delightful, empathetic fashion will be our primary target.
Transformative Technology
We focus on companies implementing digital transformations, utilizing AI-based tools and processes to reinvent existing business sectors. By identifying companies that leverage cognitive processing and other transformative technologies, we will ensure the PHV portfolio can rapidly adapt to changing environments and make a lasting impact. These technologies have shortened the distance between consumers and producers of goods and services in the new complex world. By prioritizing companies with a consumer focus, we will establish omnichannel consumer relationships across the PHV portfolio, providing additional synergies upon which to capitalize.
Capitalization Strategy
In addition to proper stewardship of investor capital, we will leverage nondilutive capital sources to expand our impact. We will look to the Federal Government for additional monies through grants, OTAs (Other Transaction Authority), and M/SBIC instruments. (This is in keeping with the goals and programs of the Biden-Harris Administration.) Foundations interested in supporting the “opportunity population” will also be approached to support both the fund and the individual portfolio companies.
Capitalization Strategy
When we see specific market voids in these industries/verticals related to the opportunity population, and appropriate investment options cannot be identified, we may coalesce a team to develop these foundational capabilities. We will immediately look to inject capital to provide additional fuel to these initiatives.
